The Classic Car Boot Sale
It was a busy weekend as ever at Tea and Crafting, we had 3 hen parties and a baby shower over the weekend. I made a trip to the Classic Car Boot Sale on Sunday in Kings Cross, it was a car boot sale with a twist! This is the third event that I’ve been to by the company and the selection of retro, vintage, collectable and upcycled treasures just keep getting better and better.
Run by Wayne Hemmingway, these events are a real treat, with all kinds of interesting goodies being sold from the boots of classic and vintage cars and camper vans. Honestly its the most colourful and best car boot sale you will find!
The first time I ever attended one of these boot sales I came home with a lovely baby blue Singer sewing machine that you can see sitting pride of place in the studio. I haven’t quite found a bargain as good as that (it was only £10!), but there are always hordes of great little trinkets like sunglasses, vintage Ladybird books, cute tea towels, handbags and all sorts of others accessories to be found.
The best find of the day! A vintage beaded purse bag.
I was desperate to try on this turquoise hat with all that bright veiling!
Held at Kings Cross in London, the event is a really great day out for everyone. Depending on how serious you are about shopping however, it can be a bit tricky when you’re trying to trawl through what’s on offer and bargain with sellers when you have two kids in tow (one of whom specifically one the look out for a spaceship with a dinosaur!!)
A recycled fun fair horse carousel into a light!
Luckily it’s not all knick-knacks and bric-a-brac and there’s food and music ranging from 40s – 80s being played atop an open-air Routemaster bus to help keep the little ones (and big ones!) entertained, not to mention so many colourful characters dressed up in vintage gear and hairstyles for the occasion. Check out that couple in the photo (and then check out those martini glasses!)
With the sun shining, and so many vintage clothes, craft items and haberdashery for sale, what better way is there to spend a weekend than relaxing and getting inspired by these amazing people and things?!
Old tin drums . . .
Now where was this book when I got married . . . published by Mills & Boon!?!
